Travel Diary: Madikeri to Sampache

The road winds down Madikeri hills to Puthur road several meters down. The last elevated area is the Chikpet area of Madikeri from where the downward descend starts.  On your lefthand side you can notice a diversion to Bhagamandala and then again a second diversion to Bhagamanala.  There are quarry adventure cllubs and estate resorts in this area.  Many pitstops like KVG, Swarna, Dhanya and Honest Canteen dot the hill road. You come by a photogenic little temple where all vehicles stop to offer coins to the deity.  This temple is nearesr to Vasudha Brahmin Canteen and Deepika mezzaine teashop. The next landmark is a Forest Range Office near Hotel National pitstop.  The Koyanad temple is located at a L-shaped bend in the road and there is a Hilltop Teashop in this pitstop.  Swagath teashop welcomes to Sampache checkpost.  The checkpost is located in a little town with many shops, restaurants and a riverside village created around it.  The police station is very spectacular as it is on a vantage point.

Jalsoor and Sullia are only seven kilometres away.  The road is flat and without many bends.  The whole area is filled with restaurants like Dwaraka Vegetarian and Lakshmivilas Nonvegetarian.  There is a mosque at Jalsoor and an Aravind temple nearby.  Some small localities called Adkar, Ajjavar, Paichar, Odabal and Oldgate are part of Jalsoor township.  There is a famous Muhiyudheen Dargah on the highway to Sullia.  The headpost office begins the town of Sullia with an imposing coconut garden opposite it.  Lakshmi Vilas restaurant offers Mangalore style fish curry and rice for Rs.65.00 only.  It is opposite to the Sullia KSRTC bus station.The police station is also in this area with its period building and manicured gardens.

Travel Diary: Mulleria to Karadukka

Mulleria town has a peculiar Y-shaped structure and the important landmarks here are the Modern Public School and the Infant Jesus Church.  There are pitstops like Topstar Thattukada and Hotel Bharath AM here.  There is a scenic place near the Kalyan Auditorium in Poovadkka.  Karmamthody has a forest camp shed run by the government.  Chandanadka is the next town and the road proceeds to Kasaragod town via Karadukka village.  The village is famous for its Bhagavathy temple and the Milk society.

Jalsoor to Adhur by car

Jalsoor is a little town near Sullia in Dakshin Kannada district of Karnataka state.  Adhur is a small village famous for its temple located in Kasaragod district of Kerala state.  The road from Jalsoor to Adhoor is full of bends downward descend.  There is a hanging bridge near the forest camp at Parappa.  There is another forest station at Kottyadi junction with a beautiful bridge nearby.  The border between Kerala and Karnataka alternates in this area so you can see the sign 'Welcome to Karnataka' many times.  There is a Majlis Gate at Padiyathadka with a Madeena teashop offering delicious Neer Dosha with fish curry.  The Adhur bridge welcomes you to Adhur town with many visitors coming to the famous temple here.
